about me

I do sound and music. And I love it. I am a very fortunate human to get to do this every day.

These last few years I have been ADR editor (and sometimes ADR supervisor) on TV shows You, Goosebumps, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, and Minx. I have recorded VO for Disney animated features and series. I have contributed dialogue editing and sound editing to the feature The Way We Speak, shot a bit of ADR for Cobra Kai and Ted, recorded VO for Family Guy, American Dad!, Hello Kitty, and a few other cartoons, cut some game dialogue for Formosa Interactive, done some sound design for an animated pitch, and supervised (and cut a bit of dialogue and effects for) the creation of the interstitial skits on Brent Faiyaz’s chart-topping album, Wasteland.

I was also audio lead on a small game dev team for Sleepy Donut for three Ludum Dare game jams this last year. Our audio team of 4-5 has made a 2D platformer called Asterisk, a plate-spinner administrative game called Department of Demise, and a side-scrolling bullet hell called Hare Runner—each in only 72 hours. We work with FMod, Unity, and GitHub. I typically have my hands in creative direction, dialogue system design, dialogue editing/mastering, audio implementation, mixing, script writing, and a little sound design. Our awesome dev team finished top-5% in almost every category for Asterisk, and even higher—including a 3rd place in audio out of almost 2,000 entries—for DoD.

I am running Badself Media, which consists of labels Badself Records (rock and pop) and Audion Song Records (soundtracks), plus a few music publishing companies. Aside from label and publisher services, some of these releases feature my drumming, mixing, mastering, and producing. And a few of my compositions are available on Audion Song.

In the last ten years I recorded and edited the dialogue for Seth MacFarlane’s animated shows (a full-time job I held for nearly sixteen years!), shot ADR on J Lee’s feature film aTypical Wednesday and his short film Naked Eye as well as the HBO limited series The Loudest Voice, and scored the feature film Boris and the Bomb.

In my career I have recorded Kanye West’s rapping, Justin Timberlake’s singing, Lisa Simpson’s saxophone, and a truckload of terribly talented folks. I have tried and failed to start a nonprofit focused on showcasing and promoting artists who give generously of their time and resources to social causes. I’ve played in the Laker Band, performed live with Fleetwood Mac and with The Rescues, and taught high school and middle school music as well as private drum set lessons. What an incredible ride.

I live in Burbank with my wonderful wife, Heather, who also works in sound—Hollywood power couple!—and we have two daughters who make lots of funny sounds, though not professionally (yet).

I’m a drummer, a runner, and a USC Trojan. I love to play the guitar and sing, cook, drink great beer and wine, and to listen to brilliant sound and music people geek out about what they know best.

And I really enjoy passing on what I think I’ve learned on my journey. If you’re just starting out or changing careers, or if you just have questions, please feel to reach out!
