I was audio lead on the Sleepy Donut team for another Ludum Dare game jam. A 3rd place in audio out of almost 2,000 submissions? We’ll take it!

Gary Bourgeois, Jeff Wexler, Mark Mangini. If those names don’t mean anything to you, do nothing. If you’re experiencing a little bit of excitement just reading those names, you need to see these videos from LASG: Los Angeles Sound Group. They’re sort of a combination of interview and Q&A and they involve some of the biggest names in the business.
They’re at lasoundgroup.com. I was at the Mark Mangini event and found it downright inspiring. Huge thanks to my friend Steve Urban and the other fantastic people at LASG for sharing with the world. Keep up the great work!
On Friday I recorded performers worth more than half a BILLION dollars. And that was just two of them. One was my boss. Can you guess the other? Top female...
Earlier this year I had the pleasure of recording ADR for a really funny short film by many-talented director/writer/musician J Lee. Naked Eye is one long, well-told R-rated (or NC-17-rated?) joke that just knocked me out of my chair. And it stars Nelsan Ellis of HBO’s True Blood. Recording him and the rest of the cast for ADR was a treat. Visit my newly updated Sound For Picture page.
Another old classic. Oh Orson Welles, how snooty can you get when you’re reading copy for a frozen peas ad? This is so quotable… “The right reading for this line is the one I’m giving it.”
Continuing with my little series of funny voiceover links, here is another V.O. classic called “Five Men and a Limo,” featuring five huge (and instantly recognizable) voice over talents, led by the late Don LaFontaine. It was produced for the Key Art Awards some years ago.
I’m starting a little series of entertaining voice-over related links. First, and a real classic now for me, is this trailer for Jerry Seinfeld’s film, The Comedian. Jerry’s not in it. Instead it features ubiquitous trailer voice over guy Hal Douglas, essentially mocking the many bombastic, big-voiced movie trailers that certainly must be his bread and butter.
I recently started a not-for-profit organization called The Lamp Project, dedicated to spotlighting and supporting socially engaged artists and the causes they champion. I wore multiple hats, including ADR mixer, writer and executive producer, for the creation of some promotional videos. I hope you’ll go take a look—the first one is live on the site right now. And if being a part of an organization with a powerful mission and lots of passionate, creative people interests you, please email me: jeremy.olsen@thelampproject.net.
Thanks for for all the support from everyone!
I went searching for good interviews on recording dialogue for animation, and the first thing to come up was a 2005 article I’ve seen a number of times, featuring an...
